PT Jotun Indonesia, on 27 October 2025, conducted a legal training session for its team, focusing on key issues in competition law and contract law. The session was delivered by Dr. Gress Gustia Adrian Pah, S.H., M.H., CLA, C.Me., and Dr. Kukuh Leksono Suminaring Aditya, S.H., LL.M., both of whom possess extensive experience in corporate legal practice and compliance.
The training began by illustrating how legal rules are applied in everyday business activities. Situations such as negotiating with third parties, coordinating with distributors, or even simple email communications are inherently linked to legal implications in businesses. The speakers emphasized that the dynamic nature of the business world requires a comprehensive understanding of legal frameworks, as even routine tasks may carry significant legal consequences.
The discussion then expanded to behaviors categorized as anti-competitive practices, including but not limited to price fixing, market allocation, and abuse of dominant position, as recognized under competition law. The facilitators provided concrete examples from real business scenarios, enabling participants to reflect on how to maintain healthy and lawful competition in the marketplace.
The speakers also offered a detailed examination of contract law, which is often perceived as straightforward but can, in fact, create substantial risks if not properly understood. Key elements were addressed, such as the obligations of contracting parties, potential risks, termination clauses, and the legal consequences of breach of contract. Participants were also guided on how to read a contract effectively and identify potential legal or commercial risks that may arise in the future.
Toward the end of the session, the trainers reiterated the importance of legal compliance in business operations, particularly in mitigating potential risks. A comprehensive understanding of legal principles among employees is viewed as essential for safeguarding the long-term sustainability of PT Jotun Indonesia.
